Buffers

A buffer is:
a solution that resists a change in pH on the addition of acid or alkali. Characteristic of all buffer solutions is that at half-neutralization the titration solution contains equal amounts of conjugate base of the acid and unionised acid. While the conjugate base neutralizes added acid, the unionised acid neutralises added base.
